All Donations are Tax Deductible!
One of our primary objectives is to provide clothing to families in need. To accomplish this we have sought donations of new and used clothing from private donors and corporate sponsors. Beginning in 1992, Free the Need has been receiving regular donations of sample and returned merchandise from local clothing manufacturers, individuals and Buffalo Exchange.
The clothing distribution happens in two main ways. First, at the weekly food giveaways, clothing is distributed directly to families along with the food boxes. Secondly, clothing is distributed to women and children’s assistance agencies and community centers that provide ongoing services to families in need.
In the Fall of 2003 Free the Need launched the first Back-to-School Giveaway in Siskiyou County. It has become a special community event to prepare children for success in school. The one-day free store provides children and teens ages 1 - 21 with clothing, coats, backpacks, school supplies, toothbrushes, dental floss, personal care items and hair cuts.
The Back-to-School Giveaway is a yearly program held in two Siskiyou County locations reaching children in rural outlying areas. To date it has assisted over 3,000 students and their families get ready for school.
